| We wish all happy new year. And I agree with Miss Monica It is time to stop arguing. | 0501-billy 12/31/2002 17:35:39 | ![]() |
| Dear All, What a big mess here? Back to Hongkong already after 1 week in Korea. Envy very much you guys and gals attending the party on X'mas Eve. I hope in the near future, I can join you (maybe with one of my good friend - we joined before when we were in the U.S.) I think, it's time to stop arguing concerning medium standard but put our efforts on nudism. To cut it short, it must be understood by readers regardless English or Chinese. Do you agree? Cheers, Monica | Monica 12/31/2002 13:44:41 | ![]() |
| I just want to say is no matter you speak or write in English, most important is you are able to communicate with others and express yourself clearly. In my opinion, don't be so mean & stubborn. | Jimmy 12/31/2002 08:10:50 | ![]() |
| Funny reading this forum really. I notice that there are a lot more activity and posting when people criticise one another's English than you do about nudism. Actually I'm one of those even bigger morons that have a poor understanding of Chinese, I can speak and understand spoken Chinese perfectly but I am only partially literate. So even finding a way round like Eagle has is out of the question for me. I understand that this is my own tough luck since this is Chinese site, nevertheless I muddle my way through. What I'm really trying to say is why don't we spend more time talking about nudism than English. Actually the last time there was as much activity here was when I was dragged into an English debate. Anyway, to annyyyy, parts of cheung sha is pretty good for swimming nude as there is often a number of nude gweilos there during the weekday. I swam nude there myself during summer, don't really get bothered. | don 12/31/2002 00:02:39 | ![]() |
| I just want to say HAPPY NUDE YEAR and thank Simon for his contribution to body arts activities through out 2002! Simon, you are my Mean Man...... | Fat Boss 12/30/2002 23:50:25 | ![]() |

| Dear Foxcreek, you did not spoil our party and you will never do. But I hope you understand that if I am not considerate enough I could have used a more sarcastic tone in my previous message. I believe I just reflected the truth that some messages were poorly written, weren't they? Also I am one of those morons you mentioned and I don't know how to imput Chinese characters but I know ways to overcome this shortfall. Nevertheless, I do agree that this is a place to exchanhge ideas and thoughts, but tell me what is the point to exchange ideas that people could hardly understand? | Eagle 12/30/2002 22:40:49 | ![]() |
| Dear Mr. Eagle, Could you please be more considerate? People come here to exchange views and thoughts. Some of them may not have written very comprehensive English but IMHO, there is not offense at all. There may be morons like me who do not know how to input Chinese characters. That is why we need to use English in this forum, however poor our standards may be. Just let people express themselves in whatever ways the wish. To other visitors of this forum: A hello to you all. I've been reading this from time to time but this is my inaugural contribution. Hope I have not spoiled your party. A happy New Year to you all. | Foxcreek 12/30/2002 22:15:22 | ![]() |
| I have no intention to criticise peoples' language standards in this bulletin board, nor want to change this bulletin board to become a place for English lessons, but I think the most important part in communication is to express ideas clearly and precisely. This process needs special care in encoding ideas and thoughts, and the writer's language ability is important as well. I have to say some messages below were so poorly written in English that other readers could not get the actual meanings easily. Besides, if someone's idea can be easily understood in Cantonese, why not write it in Cantonese though! Of course we can write colloquial Cantonese if it could be easily understood.

| Mr "Open Air', I feel ashamed of your English! Work harder! alright? | 12/30/2002 15:03:20 | |
| I must confess that the English stardard (in some cases) is very low! | 12/30/2002 14:41:56 | |
| Also, 'would' has been wrongly spelled to 'woulkd' - another typing mistake! I'll improve it in future. | 12/30/2002 11:04:04 | |
| Typing mistake:- Sorry to say (the word 'say' has been omitted due to typing mistake.) | 12/30/2002 11:02:08 | |
| Sorry to that the English of Mr 'Open Air' is lousy! A lot of mistakes can be found for such short sentence. I woulkd propose Mr "open Air' to write in Chinese. | 12/30/2002 11:01:06 | |
| i send my call to you for a long time , but you never recall me . i have been hing yip building but not open. | open air 12/30/2002 10:24:30 | ![]() |

| First, as everybody knows, the standard of both english nad Chinese in general is comparatively low. 2nd, even in Chinese, you can't write Cantonese officially. (it's the reason why the standard of Chinese is lower than in Taiwan and China - What they think, speak and write are more or less the same.... | 12/28/2002 17:22:29 | |
| To Brother 無名氏, Thank you very much for your word 'unforgetable'. You are quite reasonable and objective. I am proud to know you. | 何斯 12/28/2002 15:38:41 | ![]() |
| To Brother 何斯, I am only saying what people must saying. Sorry that you have a typo error, it should be 'word' instead of 'words'. And the word 'unforgetable' was recommended than 'unforgotten' in your case but I haven't put 'to' after that. Sorry about that! | 12/28/2002 12:35:50 | |
| Thank you for the words'unforgetable to ', your points are quite objective. | 何斯 12/28/2002 11:48:45 | ![]() |
| unforgotten Vs unforgetable To "???", You must know that people in HK {including myself} are mostly speak Cantonese and people are not all exposing themselves in English speaking especially lifestyle. So, an understandable English instead of a reputable English are commonly found. I may point out the error{s} I have found but I won't talking about the English capability. And, not all people have Chinese Windows and/ or typing in Chinese is a bit slower than English. That's why you can see the mixture of both English and Chinese here regardless their origins. | 12/28/2002 11:12:09 |
